Kathy Smith

Kathy Smith - President/CEOKathy D. Smith, owner and President/CEO of NetGain Corporation, has more than 30 years of experience in the security industry within both the government and private sectors. Her areas of expertise include physical and personnel security, information management, labor relations, construction management, and substance abuse prevention programs. Since 1999, Ms. Smith has been responsible for the overall management and operation of NetGain, a multi-million dollar security services company headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. NetGain received the 2007 Pinnacle Award for Minority Business Excellence from the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and was recently listed as #231 on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Hot 500 List of Fastest Growing Businesses. Ms. Smith was the recipient of the 2007 U.S. Small Business Administration’s Regional Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award for Region IV. She serves on the Oak Ridge Chamber Board of Directors and chaired their 2007 Political Action Committee.

In addition to Ms. Smith’s success in the business world, she is making a large impact on the local community. She is a passionate supporter of the East Tennessee branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where she serves on the Board of Directors. NetGain provides a variety of support to other local charities including Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity through corporate sponsorship, monetary donations, and volunteer work.




Vickie Hurst

Vickie Hurst - Director of OperationsVickie Hurst, V.P. of Operations, oversees all NetGain site contracts to include the DOE NNSA Albuquerque Service Center, Wackenhut Services, Inc. – Oak Ridge (WSI-OR), the Information and Personnel Security Administration (PERSEC) contract for DOE/ORO & NNSA Y-12 site offices and the TRANSCOM project located in Carlsbad, NM. Some of Hurst’s responsibilities as V.P. of Operations include oversight of the Human Reliability Program (HRP), drug and alcohol testing programs, clearance processing, badge fabrication and HSPD-12 implementation. Hurst also serves as the Corporate Secretary for NetGain Corporation. She is a 17-year veteran of the securities industry and her former work experience includes supervision of on-site drug testing laboratories in three states, as well as security management for a large government construction company in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Hurst became the second employee of NetGain Corporation in November 1999.

Mary Nell Thompson

Mary Nell Thompson serves as Director of Finance and Accounting for NetGain Corporation. She has been in financial management for various companies in Tennessee and South Carolina for over twenty-five years. Ms. Thompson is currently head of the Finance & Accounting department at NetGain.









Richard (Pete) M. Daughtry

Pete Daughtry serves as Director of Contracts for NetGain Corporation. Daughtry joined NetGain in March 2003 and brings over 30 years of experience in both commercial and government contract administration.  Prior to joining NetGain, his career included contract administration and management positions at various locations nationwide with Wackenhut Services, Inc., Morrison Knudsen, Lockheed Martin, and Fluor Daniel.

Daughtry obtained undergraduate degrees in Biology and Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
